About the Income Tax Calculator

This Income Tax Calculator estimates your tax under India’s new regime for Tax Year 2026-27 (under the Income-tax Act, 2025) — the default regime for a resident individual. Enter your annual income and, if salaried or a pensioner, the ₹75,000 standard deduction is applied automatically.

It applies the new-regime slabs, the rebate that makes tax nil up to ₹12 lakh of taxable income, marginal relief just above that limit, and the 4% health and education cess — rounding taxable income and the final tax to the nearest ₹10 as the Act requires. Calculations happen entirely in your browser.

Scope: surcharge on income above ₹50 lakh, special-rate income such as capital gains, the old regime and deductions not shown here are not modelled. Treat the result as general guidance, not tax advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which regime and year does this use?

The new regime for Tax Year 2026-27 under the Income-tax Act, 2025 — the default regime. The old regime with deductions like 80C is not calculated here.

Why is my tax zero up to ₹12 lakh?

Under the new regime a rebate makes tax nil when your taxable income is up to ₹12,00,000. Just above that, marginal relief limits the tax to the amount by which your income exceeds ₹12 lakh.

Is this official tax advice?

No. It is an estimate for general guidance. Surcharge on income above ₹50 lakh and special-rate income such as capital gains are not included — consult a tax professional for filing.
