About the Base64 Encode / Decode

Base64 is a way of representing text or data using a limited set of characters, often used in data URLs, email and web tokens. This tool encodes any text to Base64 and decodes Base64 back to readable text.

It is fully UTF-8 aware, so emoji and non-English characters convert correctly both ways. Everything runs locally in your browser.

For example, “Hello, LinkQRPro! 🚀” encodes to “SGVsbG8sIExpbmtRUlBybyEg8J+agA==”, and decoding that string returns the original text with the emoji intact.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Base64 encryption?

No. Base64 is encoding, not encryption. Anyone can decode it, so never use it to protect secrets.

Does it handle emoji and Hindi text?

Yes. The tool encodes and decodes UTF-8, so emoji and non-Latin scripts round-trip correctly.

Does it support URL-safe Base64?

No. It uses standard Base64 with + and / characters and = padding. For the URL-safe variant used in JWTs, replace + with - and / with _ and remove the padding afterwards.

Can I encode a file or image?

No. This tool works on text only. To turn a file into a Base64 data URL you need a dedicated file-to-Base64 converter.
